FARM FOR THE FUTURE IN YORKSHIRE.
The Farmer Network is a long- established support organisation for farmers, their families and their business. As concern grows within the industry as to what the future of farming may look like in diverse farming counties such as Yorkshire, the Farmer Network is hosting two open meetings for the farming community.
The meetings are part of the Farm for the Future Programme, coordinated by The Prince’s Countryside Fund and funded by Defra’s Future Farming Resilience Fund. The Farmer Network hopes that the two initial welcome meetings will persuade farmers to join the Programme which will include a series of workshops and some free one-to-one advice.
This will help farmers to better understand how the changes to farm support payments will affect the future of their businesses. It will help farmers to manage the upcoming changes, make informed decisions about the future of their farm business, and maximize the opportunities offered by the new ELM schemes. Any tenant or owner-occupied farm currently in receipt of BPS in England is eligible to join.
The Welcome meeting dates in Yorkshire are:
- Thursday 28thOctober at 7pm at The Feathers, Helmsley, YO62 5BH
- Monday 1stNovember at 7pm the Market House, Hawes DL8 3QN
Both meetings will be led by senior project manager Veronica Waller. She says “The programme is about considering options for the future and we are really looking forward to working with Yorkshire farmers on this project”.
Farmer Network Manging Director Adam Day adds, “Farming in future will bring challenges and opportunities. We’re keen to help farmers make sure they don’t miss out and therefore we hope they will come to our welcome meetings as a starting point”.
