Sunday 7th December, starting from North Ribblesdale RUFC, Settle, North Yorkshire at 3pm. Raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust and Candlelighters, donations will be split 50/50.
Passing through Eldroth, Bentham, Ingleton, Clapham, Austwick, Little Stainforth and Settle Market Place before returning to North Ribblesdale RUFC around 6pm
There will be volunteers out along the route with donation collection buckets.

The reason for raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust and Candlelighters is because our son Alex, was diagnosed with Lymphoma last year when he was just 15. He was admitted to Ward 33 at Leeds General Infirmary for treatment.
Ward 33 is funded by The Teenage Cancer Trust and is specifically for patients aged 13-18. On the ward, they fund a day room equipped with games consoles, a TV and big sofa. They also fund bedside TV’s, DVD players, parent facilities, board games and activities. They fund a nurse consultant and a youth support coordinator to help support patients and their families going through some of the hardest times in their lives. We spent many weeks here whilst our son was receiving his treatment, away from home and from our other children. We found these invaluable facilities, provided a brief distraction from the clinical, hospital environment and a home like area we could go to, as we tried to process this devastating situation as a family. Our son, who was used to being outdoors and active, found staying isolated on the unit very difficult. The youth support coordinator organised games and activities to keep him positive and busy. She spoke to him like a person and not as a cancer patient. After treatment, The Teenage Cancer Trust funds group meetings, days out and group activities to support young people regain their independence and connect with others who have been through similar diagnoses.
Candlelighters help patients and their whole family throughout their cancer journey, organising counselling, pamper sessions, massage, group therapy, funding toys and much more. At Leeds General Infirmary, they were a visible presence on the ward, chatting to patients, going out for ice lollies when, because of the side effects of treatment, our son couldn’t eat, helping distract our son when he was having procedures, providing a smiling face and being someone for us to talk to when we were going through every parent’s worst nightmare. They also give families the opportunity to go on holiday together, to process their diagnosis, to spend time together and to make cherished memories.
We have seen what a positive difference, the work of these charities provides to children, young people and their families.
Our son is now moving forward with his life, has graduated high school and passed his Tractor driving test. He is looking forward to decorating his tractor and taking part in the run with his friends. We are all hoping this event provides an opportunity for us to give something back and help other families going through their cancer journey.
